This years summit covered a range of interesting ideas and views - we were happy to be exposed to these and thought we would share our thoughts on the highlights. Additionally we summed up the summit in 20 pictures.

The seduction of the interface - merchandising in interactive product design

The marketing tag drew our attention to this presentation, which focused on pro-activity in customer acquisition. Reminding us of the significant benefits of understanding user emotions and catering to user desires through packaging.

We found the emphasis on 'planning for opportunities of delight' especially powerful and it drove home the point of how powerful the metaphor of seduction is when designing the connection between user and application.

How to redesign a business critical web application with billions of unique products?

A truly interesting case story of redesigning for a global market. A clear flow of lessons learned and justified reasoning between each design iteration, gave credibility to decisions on complicated navigation features such as facetted search and product lists.

URL design for information architects

The presentation that hit closest to home introduced an achedemic approach to URL design. At Stilmark we have worked for several years designing logical URLs in multilingual environments, so it was a treat to hear from like minded specialists, who have dedicated time on this subject and managed to add vocabulary to the field.
